To me that is a huge shame, because computers in schools should be something that is mandatory. I would guess that almost every job that will open in ten years time will require you to have some computer skills. Though who are not introduced to them in college may have a hard time in their careers.

Typically any company guaranteeing their work is anything but suspicious. Clearly a company who guarantees their work has additional, not reduced, credibility. If they don’t feel good about their prospects of helping you and can’t guarantee their work, why should you feel good?

Beyond the basic character traits such as logical thinking, having the skills needed to fix computers are essential. You should probably have a year or two of supporting computers underneath your belt before you start the business. If you don’t have that kind of time supporting computers yet, I would recommend volunteering your time to friends and family and maybe with a non profit organization. Non-profits are always looking for volunteers, and I am willing to bet that a larger one would have a fulltime computer guy who would love an extra set of hands.
When money allows, piggyback an additional hard drive onto your primary hard drive for backup. Needless to say, your primary hard drive will not last forever.
